The only professional integrated dance company in the U.K. which includes dancers with physical disabilities and learning disabilities will now receive regular funding from Arts Council South East.

Jamie Watton, Dance Officer at Arts Council England, South East said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome StopGAP to our portfolio of regularly funded organisations (RFOs). Having established some impressive partnerships and an extensive performance and education programme, there is clearly significant demand for the company’s work. This is not only an exciting development for the south east’s dance portfolio, but also for the RFO portfolio as a whole, reflecting our commitment to supporting disability arts work of the highest quality’

StopGAP started ten years ago as a community project/collaboration between Woking Dance Festival and Guildford Borough Council. They are now based at Farnham Maltings, Surrey.

Vicki Balaam, Artistic Director of StopGAP said “Everyone in StopGAP sees this decision as recognition of the company’s determination to create vibrant, high quality integrated dance that not only tours to high profile dance venues but also to local rural centres. The company has flourished thanks to the fierce support from many local well wishers, the guidance and belief from experienced professionals, and the firm roots that we have developed in Surrey. We would all like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has given their time and passion to us and helped us on our journey.”
